Pit Bull Terrier - Medium - Adult - Male - Dog - Hector
Description
Hello! My name is Hector. I sure am happy to be rescued from the pound. I want to send a BIG THANK YOU to the wonderful people that offered to sponsor me and to provide me a foster home! We estimate Hector's age to be 2-3 years old. We will post more info about Hector soon! June 7th Foster Home Feedback - We have now reached the end of our second full day with Hector, and they have been busy and absolutely fun days. We picked him up at the kennels on Thursday late afternoon and he was SO happy to go with us! He was full of kisses and playfulness from the first minute my son and I picked him up. When we got home, we first introduced him to our lab cross, Boni, and they immediately "clicked." Hector is definitely not a dominant dog in the least, and as Boni is the "leader of the pack", next to us, it was important that those two got along. The meeting went very smoothly. We next introduced him to our little lhasa, Shorty, and that also went very well. This was kind of a surprise, as Shorty definitely, um, suffers from "little dog" syndrome, and has a tendency to be kind of bossy. ;-) The last dog we introduced him to was our boxer, Batista. That didn't go quite as smoothly, but not on Hector's part. He was wonderful. Batista just took a bit longer to "accept" him into the pack, so we did that introduction quite gradually over the next couple days. Hector did what he could to make friends, and it worked! He and Batista have had a great day today, romping and chasing--couple of real clowns, those two. . . :-) Last night, we also introduced him to one cat at a time. The first one we introduced him to was Lucky, as he is our oldest and most adaptable. Lucky went right up to him and began to rub Hector's chin. He obviously has either been around cats before, or is just that awesome of a dog, because he seemed to really enjoy it. He does not go out of his way to approach the cats, which is great as Twinkles (our second eldest) is not a big fan of dogs, but when they come up to him he seems to really enjoy the attention! We also have found that he REALLY likes little kids. Our neighbor came over with her little daughter who is about 20 months old, and we first let them check each other out through the fence. She then brought Paige in, and he was as gentle as a lamb with her. She hugged him, he licked her, didn't jump on her at all, and they had fun with throwing the ball around the yard and chasing it. All in all, Hector is showing himself to be a GREAT dog! Right now I just glanced over at him and he has made himself quite comfy our our bed. . .guess he's saying it's night-night time!
